Started by Anton Zwemmer, Zwemmer’s bookshop on Charing Cross Road in London was a meeting place for artists, collectors, and academics. Anton Zwemmer was a friend and patron of Picasso, and his gallery showed his work. Zwemmer’s held Britain’s first abstract art exhibition, its first Dali exhibition and major exhibitions of Picasso, Miro and de Chirico.
